September & October ‘99
Arriving back in England was the beginning of the more boredom but I had things to do on that side of the planet !.
After a week at home, I discovered a cheap flight to Florida so I decided to go to Miami for 10 days. I ‘hung out’ at South Beach, Miami’s so called ‘trendy’ area. I spent several days looking for some new ‘wheels’ and playing stupid drinking games and going to suspect ‘adult type’ bars.
I returned to England on a Wednesday for all of just 1 day, before flying to Amsterdam with my Brother, Jon. As everyone knows, Amsterdam is all about sex and drugs so for 5 nights, 6 days we partook !.
After my week in Amsterdam, I spent 3 weeks at home. Before I decided to go over to Ireland for 10 days. Ireland the island home of Guiness. Everything I had heard about the Guiness tasting better in Ireland was true, I sampled an innumerable number of pints on innumerous occasions - only for scientific purposes to allow a fair, unbiased and impartial view !.
I spent 3 days in Dublin, not doing much more than sampling the local brew !. I then went on a 6 day tour of Ireland, the bus company for young budget travellers was owned by Oz and Kiwi Experience, my favourite tour bus group from Australia and New Zealand. The tour bus was virtually full of Australians with an English driver which was ‘no dramas’ as I like the easy going Australian culture. The bus went all round Ireland - Donnegal, Galway, Killarney, Scholl and Cork stopping at many points of interest. Our day normally began at 8am, traveling on the bus stopping at castles, towns, mountain viewpoints, a peat farm, a rock formation, etc with the traveling finishing at around 6pm. Then the real Irish experience started - Guiness.
I returned to Dublin to recover from 7 days of drunken travels around Ireland.
After spending another week at home, I went to Ibiza on an 18-30 package holiday with a friend from Australia, Nicol.
Having being told Ibiza was closing down for the winter months, I was skeptical. But I can confirm IBIZA ROCKS even in late October. All the major clubs had closed but Ibiza was still a huge Party island with no shortage of opportunities to overindulge in brightly coloured beverages, Blue Lagoon’s, Sangria’s and Pink Pantha’s. An immense dose of cocktails and spirits is highly encouraged. Mr Vodka, Mrs Tequila and most importantly Sir After Shock who, because of his immense power, must be held in high respect !.
After Tuesday night’s annihilating 15 hour session, entailing : too much free Sangria, Vodka Red Bull, Tequila then After Shock, we spent a quiet Wednesday exploring more of Ibiza which is a Beautiful Spanish Island. The houses have a traditional white-washed Mediterranean style. Ibiza town has a classical Spanish atmosphere with beautiful tanned locals. There are secluded sandy beaches, chic shops and the classy harbour area of Casa del Ray, just north of Ibiza town.
We spent most nights in bars like Koppas, Simple, Play 2 and Trops. I Drank free Sangria direct from the Jug on a family orientated themed ‘country & western’ night, , watching a hypnotist, saw ‘Grease’ and a cabaret performed my the Club Reps.
I returned home before continuing with my second round the world trip and beginning my mischief in south east Asia.
